S-Ray has developed an exclusive partnership with the industry-leading R & D lab and manufacturer of Capacitive Micro-Machined Ultrasound Transducer (CMUT) arrays to produce S-Ray’s patented intra-oral scanning probes to produce superior quality high-frequency ultrasound diagnostic images that are exclusive to S-Ray’s ClearView SCAN/R™ platform.
By leveraging semiconductor manufacturing methods for fabrication and packaging, and utilizing advanced Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology, S-Ray’s patented ClearView SCAN/R™ probes are not limited by element number, dimension, or array shape, allowing application specific design features to deliver relevant diagnostic imaging for the clinician that is unavailable in any other imaging format.
An innovative ultrasound method exists, one known as through transmission or “pitch-catch.” This type of scan uses two ultrasound transducers. One transducer sends or “pitches” the signal, while the other transducer waits to receive or “catch” the signal. The pitch-catch method is exclusive to S-Ray and a key to innovative dental imaging applications.
Protected by issued US Patent # 6,589,054, the method utilized is placing a set of transducers on either side of the teeth and gums and sending an ultrasound wave between them.
Using ultrasound in pitch-catch is common for testing hard materials, such as airplane components. S-Ray is the first venture to apply the conventional industrial non-destructive testing technique to the healthcare industry. This manner of using ultrasound is the key to why S-Ray can produce data regarding dental structures that enables highly accurate and detailed results.
